Phase One Tryouts

Beginning February 1, SJFC will begin the second round of its selection process. This 4 week event will consist of 2 playing sessions per week, over 4 weeks. Currently, there are only 4 spots available and the first four individuals who register will have a month-long playing opportunity against some of the best players in the area.

When: Starting February, every Monday 8:00-9:30pm & Friday 7:30-9:00pm

This registration is for 8 OPEN Tryout Sessions to be held every Monday 8:00-9:30pm & Friday 7:30-9:00pm, beginning February 1, 2021 at the South Jefferson SportsPlex (44 E. Church Street, Adams, NY 13605).

All participants will receive league and team information. Anyone selected from Phase One will move on to the second phase at no additional cost.

Are there different age groups?

The men’s Div I league consists of players currently in college or career individuals who have the ability to play at a higher level but not professionally. Our team will be categorized as Professional Development in order to make sure the college players keep their NCAA eligibility in place. The league minimum age allowed is 16, the average age nationwide is 25.

If selected, what kind of training, match play is expected?

Training will be provided 2-3 times a week depending on the availability of the players and space. If we are stuck at the SportsPlex training due to COVID, we’ll practice Monday & Friday 8-9:30 every week with a bi-weekly visit to one of the Syracuse facilities to get some large scale field time.Match play will start at the end of April for our spring season and will run 10 weeks long consisting of 5 home games and 5 away.

What are the qualifications to be on the team?

16 years and older and US Citizen

What kind of financial commitment is expected from the players?

The only financial commitment is the tryout fee. After that, SouthJeff FC covers all other expenses. The uniforms and equipment will be issued and returned to the club based on selections. The players will have an option to buy their uniforms if they intend to keep them. All travel and other league and tournament play is paid for by SouthJeff FC.

Player Requirements

To all players selected, there will be a few added requirements to stay in good standing as part of the team:

  • Every player will be required to coach at the development level one day a month as a means to engage with the younger players in the organization.
  • Players will be required to be part of the coaching staff to one camp or clinic that is held through the South Jefferson SportsPlex
  • Public events and community service events are occasionally performed by the club and Select Team players will be required to take part in these events.
